During the first year of the project, as a result of the training in the PREEL model, the following courses were designed/redesigned:

1. Course: ICT in Education. Target group: teachers and teacher trainers. 45 lectures + 45 lab sessions, compulsive.
The course aims to introduce the trainees to the theory and practice of designing education with integrated technology or delivered in a virtual learning environment one. The process of internalizing the course contents moves from getting acquainting with the methodology and theory laying the foundation of e-learning, through the theoretical and practical aspects of e-learning design, reaching the state of developing practical skills to designing such type of education.
As a result of their participation in this course, the trainees acquire the following knowledge:
   > Methodological and theoretical approaches       related to e-learning pedagogical design;
   > E- learning theories laying the foundation of the e-learning design;
   > Existing pedagogical approaches to e-learning and their pedagogical background;
   > Principles, stages and components of the pedagogical design of learning with integrated       information and communication technology and with online learning;
   > Technology of the pedagogical design: setting the goals; design of learning environments;       assessment;
They will also improve/develop their skills in:
   > Planning and designing e-learning activities with integration of information and communication       technologies;
   > Planning and designing e-learning activities delivered via virtual learning environments;
   > Design of e-learning materials and resources for e-learning;
   > Online activity management;
   > Evaluation of the pedagogical design of technology enhanced learning.

2. Course: Bulgarian language. Target group: teachers of Bulgarian language. 15 lab sessions, elective.
The course is an elective course, part of the Masters’ degree programme Education in Bulgarian language and literature in secondary schools. Students are already teachers, usually very busy and they tend to miss sessions. There are normally about 7-10 students in each run of the course.
The course gives 3 credits, this means 30 hours F2F and an estimated 30 hours of individual study. Thus the schedule includes attendance of 2 hours a week lecture/seminars + 2 hours individual study.
The students will:

   > Learn how to best use electronic tools (ICT) to work with text in the teaching and learning of       Bulgarian language and literature in secondary schools.
   > understand the main benefits of using each ICT tool

Students are expected to realise the potential of ICT for visualization and for the creation of activities for pupils.

3. Course: ICT in Teaching Biology
The course ICT in Teaching Biology combines two basic aspects of integrating the information and communication technologies into the subject area Biology: the theoretical and the application ones. The theoretical aspect reflects the Lifelong Learning policy, qualification standards for the teaching profession (as a model at the work place) and the model of instruction: groups of knowledge, skills and competences. The focus of the theoretical and application aspect is the visualization of biology objects. A system of criteria for visualization of knowledge in the area of biology is developed in the context of realization: learning theory – learning activity. The application aspect of the training is oriented towards constructing and justifying pedagogical technology for applying criteria system for visualization of biological objects and integration of ICT in biology education.
Course objectives
The contents and activities of the course aim at achieving the following objectives:
Development of competences for analysis of pedagogical situations and justification of pedagogical decisions regarding the visualization of biological objects and integration of ICT in biology education. These competences include skills for:
   > Analysis of visual information in the field of biology based on a criteria system, designed for       the subject area of Methodology of teaching biology;
   > Argumentation and application of correction mechanisms regarding visualization of biology       information using a given or a serf-developed criteria system;
   > constructing and justifying pedagogical technology for applying criteria system for       visualization of biological objects and integration of ICT in biology education for a given       educational context (topic, form of management, etc.).

The objectives are achieved in the context of educational activities with different levels of freedom when constructing the result (product) of the activity. The activities to be carried out go through the following stages: individual work, which includes analysis and/or construction of a teaching situation using a given or self-developed criteria system and group discussion on the product quality using a system of criteria developed in advance.

4. ICT in Educational Management.
Target group: teachers of biology. Lectures/lab sessions. Elective/compulsory.

This subject aims to introduce the trainees to the theory and practice of educational management using information and communication technologies (ICT). In the process of learning, the trainees move from the methodology of the theory of educational institutions management to developing skills to design an institutional information system.
As a result of their participation in the course, the trainees will acquire knowledge about:
   > Methodological and theoretical approaches       related to organization information systems;
   > Technologies for information system risk       management
   > Information an communication technologies a resource for educational management       optimization;
   > Strategies for evaluation the efficiency of Information Management Systems
   > Educational information system in Bulgaria – AdminSoft.
And skills for:
   > Communication in the educational system;
   > Design of a school information system;
   > Work with AdminSoft products;
   > Making management decisions using information and communication technologies.

5. Course: English for Academic Purposes.
Target group: teachers of English as a Second Language, teachers. 30 lectures + 30 lab sessions, compulsory/elective.
Objectives: knowledge about the specifics, structure and types of academic text, academic style and citing, use and compiling glossaries; competence: enhancing the efficiency of using English for academic and professional purposes. The students will be able to understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning; will be able to express themselves fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions; will be able to use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes; will be able produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices (Level В2 – С1 of the CEFR); skills to use the language in a written and oral form: discussion and presentations (monologue, dialogue), professional networks; to search for, retrieve, extract, evaluate and summarize information in English; using authentic texts from the Internet; writing summaries, essays and reviews (academic texts) in English; skills for team working and self education; using electronic libraries and dictionaries.
